It's that time of year again!
The past year of my life has taken me for a bit of a ride to say the least. Choosing sobriety, while at times quite challenging, is an easy decision to make right now.
Last year during my Dry fundraiser, we raised just under $7000! I knew that the Canadian Cancer Society was a worthy recipient of these efforts, but in this past year I have been a beneficiary of what they have to offer.
While my story is just a drop in the bucket of the great things Cancer Society does, I was amazed at the resources made available to me.
I did the math recently and figured that I've traveled approximately 5000km in the past year traveling to and from appointments in Salmon Arm, Vernon, and Kelowna. The Cancer Society sent me a cheque to help offset the cost of travel.
While in Kelowna for radiation treatment, I spent some time at the Rotary Lodge next to the hospital, and got 3 meals a day, all for free.
I've had access to counseling services, a whole library of resources, not to mention excellent support from all the nurses, doctors, technicians, and volunteers working with the cancer society. I'm so incredibly grateful to every single person who has helped me along the way.
So, please join me in saying thanks, and to pay it forward to the Canadian Cancer Society!
With much love and gratitude,
Margaret
